EXPLOSION OF LIGHT AND FREEDOM
Sitting on her bed, I feel and observe.
I close my eyes and perceive.
I begin to understand how birth and death are the same thing.
Just as labor is not instantaneous, neither is death. It is a process with its own stages.
I realize how important it is to arrive at that moment with as much consciousness as possible, with inner work already done, in order to surrender with the least suffering.
After crossing the darkness and the oppressive forces of "the birth canal", I see a radiant glow in my mother.
Her face relaxes and she seems almost to smile.
"Three breaths," I hear.
I see those three final breaths washing over her body one last time.
Afterward, the room lights up as if dawn had broken in the middle of the night.
I feel peace knowing of my mother's birth on the other side.
A profound lesson in loving without attachment, in letting go and accepting the flow of life.
