There are experiences that cannot be fully explained. They can only be traversed.
"Entre dos mundos" was born from one of them: the farewell to a mother.
After accompanying her mother at the end of her life, Lourdes Tomás began to paint. Not as someone who decides to start an artistic series, but as someone who needs to find a language for what cannot yet be said. Painting appeared then as a form of mourning, gratitude and conversation with the invisible.
The first LOU gathering brought that work together with the people who chose to join her on a very special afternoon at Finca El Romeral, in the Sierra de Madrid.
The paintings were hung outdoors, among holm oaks, light and silence. Nature was not a backdrop: it was part of the message. Because talking about death in the midst of life changes the way we listen. And looking at a work born from grief in a living, open and natural setting allows us to understand that death is not only an ending, but also a transition, a transformation and a question.
During the talk, Lourdes shared what she lived through with her mother in her final days: the intensity of presence, the unexpected beauty of certain moments, gratitude, love, absence and the intuition that preparing ourselves to die begins much earlier — in the way we choose to live.
The gathering opened a question that concerns us all:
If we had to leave one day, what would we have truly wanted to have lived?
From that question, the work stopped being just painting. It became a mirror, a conversation and an invitation.
"Entre dos mundos" inaugurated a series of gatherings created to raise awareness about the great human questions and remind us that the human being is not exhausted in what is visible. We are body, history and emotion, yes. But we are also connection, mystery, consciousness and transcendence.
This first gathering was a tribute.
But it was also a seed.
The seed of a community that wants to look at life with more depth, better accompany processes of loss and recover a more human relationship with death.
